Privacy Policy

This statement sets out how Science and Christianity Forum Worcester (currently known as Bible and Science)  will deal with any personal information we collect from you or that you provide to us.

What information do we collect?

We may collect and process the following information about you where relevant:

  • Your contact details
  • Your attendance at events and meetings run or hosted by us
  • Details of your visits to our website (including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, whether this is required for our own purposes or otherwise) and the resources that you access

How do we collect information?

We may collect information about you when you interact with us on our website. For example, when you contact us using our online contact form or when you sign up for our newsletter. When you provide your personal information in our paper contact form, the form is emailed to authorised staff in order to accommodate your request.

We use a third party provider, MailChimp, to send out our newletter and information about meetings and events. When you enter your email address on our website, it is sent directly to the administrator at Science and Christianity Forum who will then add it to MailChimp as appropriate. At that point it is subject to their privacy and security policies which are available on their website.

How do we use the information?

We use your information to provide you with services, activities or information you request so that we can further the objectives of Science and Christianity Forum Worcester. We only use the information about you that you have given us and our own records of the services we have delivered.

Personal information that we collect may be used by us in a number of ways:

  1. To tell you about events that the organisation is running which we think may be of interest to you;
  2. To keep you informed of news and events via our newsletter
  3. To enable to maintain appropriate safeguarding arrangements for our children and young people and vulnerable adults;

We will collect and handle your personal information either with your consent or because it is necessary for us to do so for the purposes of our legitimate interests outlined above.

Your information will not be sold to any third parties. We will not transfer your information outside of the EEA (European Economic Area) without obtaining your consent first.

When you sign up for our newsletter, our third party provider, MailChimp, store your email address on servers in the United States. They will only use it for the purpose of sending you the newsletter or other mailouts we create.

When you sign up to receive information from us, you will be asked to review this privacy policy. We advise you to also review MailChimp’s privacy policy for more information on how they use your data. You can easily unsubscribe from our information and mail outs by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link provided at the end of the email, or send an email to scienceandchristianityforum@gmail.com.

How do we protect your information?

We take appropriate measures to keep your personal information secure, accurate and up to date. We only keep your personal information as long as it is reasonable and necessary. We restrict access to those who have a need to know and we train staff in handling the information securely.

 How we will store information

Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features to try to prevent unauthorised access.

We will take reasonable, necessary steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy statement

 How long do we keep your personal data?

We keep data in accordance with the guidance set out in our Retention and Erasure Policy which is available on request from the church administrator (contact details below).

We will refresh our mailing list information every 2 years but will amend following any requests to update wrong information (including changes to membership status) or where consent has been withdrawn.
The right to Erasure – ‘The right to be forgotten’.

Wherever legally possible, if you no longer wish us to hold your data or you no longer wish to receive updates, we will ensure that all data relating to that individual has been erased.

Science and Christianity Forum Worcester manage records efficiently and systematically, in a manner consistent with the GDPR requirements and this includes the disposal of data.

Disclosure of your information

We will not disclose your information to any other party other than in accordance with this privacy policy unless we are required by law to do so.

 Further processing

If we wish to use your personal data for a new purpose, not covered by this Data Protection Notice, then we will provide you with a new notice explaining this new use prior to commencing the processing and setting out the relevant purposes and processing conditions. Where and whenever necessary, we will seek your prior consent to the new processing

Your rights

You have the right to view all of your personal information that we have collected. To obtain a copy, please email Science and Christianity Forum Worcester. We will require proof of your identity. We aim to reply as promptly as we can and, in any case, within the legal maximum of 40 calendar days.
